Dublins Light Rail Service – The DART

Dart travelling along the Dublin coast

The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) system is an electrified light rail system which flows along Dublins coast from Howth and Malahide in north Dublin to Greystones in the south, taking in the city centre. It’s very popular with Dublin’s working population and is pleasant to use. A lot of it is scenic and it’s a great way to see the beaches, parks, seaside villages. You can expect city centre services to run about every 15 minutes.
We recommend getting off at Killiney stop and enjoying the beach while walking back into beautiful Dalkey for a coffee. The views on the way into Killiney are superb. On the way you can pass Bono’s house at Vico Road! You can also take in Killiney Hill which has wonderful views but do dress appropriately and bring some snacks.

You can check out Malahide Castle and if you get to Howth (which you should!) then if you are feeling fit and healthy you could try the Howth coastal walk. Dalkey is a foodie heaven and if you fancy taking advantage of the Blackrock stop then be sure to check out the weekend Blackrock market.
